Semarang: A Cultural Melting Point

David Kolb's concept of "learning by experience" or experiential learning holds true for any individual seeking to adapt to a foreign and distinctly different environment. As a Filipino pre-service exchange student teacher, I am expected to possess minimal or no prior knowledge of Indonesia – its places, people's living conditions, beliefs, and culture. These aspects are all crucial to becoming an effective and culturally sensitive teacher. To bridge this gap, UPGRIS, my receiving university, meticulously planned a series of city tours and cultural activities.
